A cyberattack attributed to Iran-linked threat actors forced a British power plant offline for four days, making it one of the most significant publicly reported cyber incidents affecting UK critical infrastructure in recent years. According to reports, the attack temporarily disrupted operations at a small generating facility, although it did not affect the wider national electricity supply.

The incident occurred during a period of increased cyber activity targeting critical infrastructure sectors. Security experts noted that the attack demonstrated the ability of sophisticated threat actors to gain access to operational technology environments and disrupt essential services. UK authorities reportedly provided guidance to energy companies following the incident and reviewed response measures for critical infrastructure operators.

At the same time, cyberattacks were reported against water and wastewater facilities in multiple U.S. states, highlighting how operational technology systems continue to be attractive targets across sectors. Although the attacks affected different industries, they revealed a common concern: critical infrastructure organizations remain vulnerable when industrial systems are exposed or insufficiently protected.
